We’re delighted to announce that a git integration for Overleaf v2 is now released!

The integration lets you git clone, push and pull changes between the online Overleaf editor, and your local offline git repository. The git bridge was a popular feature of Overleaf v1, and we heard a lot of feedback from the community about it being important to keep as a feature in Overleaf v2. It’s been one of the more challenging technical parts of the move to v2 for us, but we’re pleased to announce that it’s now ready for beta testing, ahead of a full launch in early January 2019.

If you’d like to take part in the beta testing of the git integration, please fill in this form (Update: This feature is now out of beta; you no longer need to apply to use it.), and we’ll get back to you with more instructions.

We're aiming to invite the first cohort of users the week beginning the 10th December. We’d like to hear from users who have experience with the git bridge in Overleaf v1, so that we can make sure you have a smooth transition to v2, and from users who have never used this feature before, so we can make sure it’s clear and intuitive.

We’ll aim to give out early access to everyone who signs up, but we may have to roll the feature out more slowly than the demand. It will be ready for everyone to use in January 2019. If you do sign up to try it out, please note that as the git integration is still in beta, there may be a higher rate of bugs and problems than we would expect from Overleaf in general! This is why we'd love to get your feedback over the next few weeks.

If you have any other questions about the Git integration, or Overleaf v2 in general, please let us know via our contact page. Thanks!
